A real estate management company retained CM3 to test potable water at a complex of corporate and government buildings in Ottawa.
Water sampling for metals, microbes, trihalomethanes, pH, nitrates, calcium carbonate, turbidity, and residual chlorine
We assessed the quality of drinking water at locations throughout the campus, including water fountains, kitchenettes, and points of entry (POE). The sampling locations were pre-determined by our client and all work was completed in accordance with Health Canada’s drinking water quality guidelines.
We assessed water samples for metals, microbes, trihalomethanes, pH, nitrates, calcium carbonate, turbidity, and residual chlorine. We found the pH of samples was marginally above the recommended range. In four of the buildings we sampled, the maximum allowable concentration of lead exceeded the guideline’s recommendations.
We recommended re-sampling for lead in locations that exceeded acceptable limits, regular review of pH levels, and continued routine testing.
